We handle all types of professional negligence claims involving claims against accountants, architects, engineers, insurance brokers, solicitors, surveyors and valuers. In order to succeed in a negligence claim you have to prove that the professional owed you a duty of reasonable care and skill, the duty was breached and that you have as a result suffered loss and damage. This professional will have some form of professional indemnity insurance and as a result the solicitors appointed to deal with the claim on behalf of the professional will usually be appointed by their insurers.
Such claims are often complex and involve considerable reading and deliberation before initial advice can be given as to whether there may be a claim. We are able to agree with the client an initial fixed fee to cover such investigation. It is therefore necessary for the client, if possible, to obtain a copy of the professional's file of papers in order to properly assess the strength of the claim.
Partner, Stephen Cox, is a member of the Professional Negligence Lawyers Association, an organisation comprising professional negligence solicitors set up in 2004 to assist the public in finding specialists to pursue such claims.
For further information or to book an initial consultation, please contact Stephen Cox or Patrick Jenkins at our Petersfield office.
As well as providing a full legal service during office hours we are now able to offer free of charge 20 minute meetings by appointment only. These will take place between the hours of 5.30 and 7pm on a fortnightly basis on matters relating to disputes and litigation only. During these sessions we will give preliminary advice only but we hope to be able to provide assistance particularly to those who are in the first instance unable to meet with us during the day.
