Alternatives to Court

We remain fully open to help with family law issues during the current global outbreak of the Coronavirus, COVID-19. All of our family law solicitors are working as normal using remote access technology and we can arrange appointments by telephone and video call, as an alternative to face to face meetings. We can also arrange appointments outside of normal working hours, as we understand the lockdown can make it even harder than usual to consult solicitors on sensitive family law matters

In line with current government advice, our offices in Petersfield and Midhurst remain open and operational although we are operating with a reduced staff level on the ground and only able to admit to our offices clients who have pre-booked an appointment. All of our lawyers have access to secure cloud based technologies for emails and telephone calls and video conferencing, which enable them to work remotely and conduct meetings accordingly.

You can continue to contact us, as normal, by phone, email and video conferencing and where essential pre-book a face to face meeting in the office. We remain fully committed to delivering a high level of client service, tailored to your individual needs.

Although most problems arising from family issues can be dealt with by the courts, it can often be a difficult and upsetting process. There are effective alternatives to court, designed to help you resolve a whole range of issues around money and assets, children, and other contentious matters.

Collectively known as dispute resolution (DR) these routes include

Our specialist family lawyers have enormous experience in all of  these areas and can advise you on the best option given your individual needs and circumstances. In many cases, the actual negotiations are between us and your partner’s lawyers, so you  need not necessarily be directly involved at all.

…thank you for all your efforts (Tim) in bringing my divorce to a close. I am particularly thankful for all your very calming words of support when things were at their worst. You did an excellent job all round. Thank you.

Tim Melville-Walker has been excellent and a credit to your firm

Fantastic service I would not hesitate to recommend

Having Tim ‘on side’ during this traumatic episode made a real difference. He was a tremendous support but at the same time kept me focussed on the main objective, i.e. obtaining a sensible outcome. This, thankfully, we did achieve.

I remain totally indebted to Tim Melville-Walker and Alison Odle and the team for getting me through a difficult divorce – I would recommend them 100%
