Family Law

CORONAVIRUS

We remain fully open to help with family law issues during the current global outbreak of the Coronavirus, COVID-19. All of our family law solicitors are working as normal using remote access technology and we can arrange appointments by telephone and video call, as an alternative to face to face meetings. We can also arrange appointments outside of normal working hours, as we understand the lockdown can make it even harder than usual to consult solicitors on sensitive family law matters

In line with current government advice, our offices in Petersfield and Midhurst remain open and operational although we are operating with a reduced staff level on the ground and only able to admit to our offices clients who have pre-booked an appointment. All of our lawyers have access to secure cloud based technologies for emails and telephone calls and video conferencing, which enable them to work remotely and conduct meetings accordingly.

You can continue to contact us, as normal, by phone, email and video conferencing and where essential pre-book a face to face meeting in the office. We remain fully committed to delivering a high level of client service, tailored to your individual needs.

Relationships end for many reasons. What really matters is where you go from here. Our specialist Family law team will work with you to bring things to a fair conclusion, whether you have been married, in a civil partnership, or living together.

We cover all aspects of family issues, including dealing with assets like homes, businesses, companies and trusts as well as arrangements for where children live and how much time they spend with the relevant adults.

Our approach is to avoid unnecessary confrontation and try to deal with all matters by agreement wherever possible: this brings huge benefits not only in terms of legal costs saved, but also in reduced stress, upset and possible damage to any children, in an already difficult time. There are many tools that can be used to settle even the most difficult of matters and all our family lawyers are members of Resolution, and follow their Code of Conduct to achieve the best result. See also our page on alternatives to Court.

When Court action is needed, we have a great deal of experience in all family matters that come before the Courts. We have represented clients in Courts of all levels, including on the most complex and difficult matters.

Above all, our focus is on looking after our clients and their children at what is often one of the most difficult points in their lives. All our family law advice is, of course, in complete confidence and we are always happy to speak informally on the phone before arranging any appointment

Fantastic service I would not hesitate to recommend

Excellent service throughout, very patient, good information at all times, easy to communicate with – friendly.

Very professional and highly qualified – Tim really knows his stuff

Tim Melville-Walker has been excellent and a credit to your firm

I remain totally indebted to Tim Melville-Walker and Alison Odle and the team for getting me through a difficult divorce…I would recommend them 100%.

Nisha was wonderful. Thank you!

Having Tim ‘on side’ during this traumatic episode made a real difference. He was a tremendous support but at the same time kept me focussed on the main objective, i.e. obtaining a sensible outcome. This, thankfully, we did achieve.
